Headers vs. H-pipe

Which of these 2 mods, a set of Headers or an Off-Road H-pipe will make my car louder? Which would make more power? I also read when using an Off-road h-pipe you will notice more fumes inside the car, is there anything to prevent of limit this? I just brought my 94 Convertible to use as a daily driver and would like to hear the exhaust a little more. It currently has just a Cat-back system and a CAI.

O/R H hands down, headers (if you're talking about shorties) will change the sound very little with a stock midpipe. The o/r pipe will be soooooo much less restrictive and let your car breathe better, not to mention make it a LOT louder than the stock catted H.

The offroad H will make the car sound like a beast!! If it's bolted up right there should be no fumes getting into the car.

+1 for the mid pipe

You will notice more fumes w/ a pipe w/ no cats but if your not sitting idling in the same spot for a long time then you dont really notice it. The person behind you is another story

Grab both. You can get a good used mid pipe for super cheap using the classified's systems, and try to get yourself a set of longtube's as well while you're in there. You'll enjoy the sound of longtubes if you already have a nice h-pipe.

That way you get the noise and a little extra performance.

I will not address the sound issue

I will talk performance & bang for the buck spent

Performance

LT's won't make that much difference when talking peak power
however
Low and mid range ... They can really make a diff you can feel

Bang for the buck

Make up your mind ... NOW ... BEFORE ... you get a mid pipe :Word:

That way you don't have to buy and install twice

H-pipe is the way to go. The stock headers aren't as bad as people make them out to be. If installed correctly, you shouldn't have any extra fumes in the car.

I agree with Kurt, stock headers are pretty decent till you start adding a lot of junk
