headers

Hey everyone, I have a question. I have a '67, originally with a 289, now has a 302. I'm putting an AOD in it. It has power steering. I want to use shorty headers that I have from my '93. I figure that using the shorties would have the exhust clear the steering (Of course, custom bent pipes). Does anyone have experience with this? Is there anything I need to look out for? I know that the performance gains are not as high as with full lenth headers, but this is not a race car, just looking for something better than the factory manifolds.

I don't think headers from a 93 will work.

Do you know why they won't work? It LOOKS like there is plenty of room, but I know that can be deceiving. I'm pulling the engine, and installing the headers on the engine out of the car, so I can't just "try" it. Thanks for the input.
