i have a 97 gt and was wondering if its a bad idea to install a tune and off road X pipe for my car before i change the headers? Im getting these as a gift but im not sure if its a good idea to put the X pipe in without headers. Also, anyone know a good website that had good prices on these parts? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!!

1.) Decide what length header you want. (Long, Mid, Short)
2.) Which X Pipe you get will be determined by the length of the header. (If you go with Shorties you can install the mid pipe and tune before you install the headers)
3.) The Tune is most important so make sure its done right and deletes the OBDII readings otherwise your "Check Engine" light will be on.

Just do a Google Search for the product you want, and be sure to check ebay.

If you're going to spend the time and money to do headers, get longtubes or go home.

Please do not waste your time with putting shorty headers on. They offer no performance gains over stock manifolds, but are still a pain in the ass to install. Put long tubes on.

The question of 'shorties or longtubes?' isn't a question at all. If you are going to take the time and money to change the headers, long tubes all the way.

Whoever told you that has no clue what they're talking about. Shorties offer no power gain.

I would no longer seek automotive advice from the person who told you shorties are for top end.

Wait a second....did Handz tell you that?

it was from a guy off americanmuscle.com...i would have thought he knew what he was talking about..thanks for letting me know. Also, he said that its worth spend the extra $100 to get the ceramic coated headers cuz they last much longer, is it worth it?

Wow that's a shame. Usually AM knows their ****. Also, definitely get the ceramic coated version, especially if it's only $100 more. Ceramic coating helps keep heat transfer from the headers to a minimum (since they get HOT) and insulate the header which increases internal gas velocity allowing for a few more HP and better sound quality.

Stay far far away from pacesetter. They're known to have quality and fitment issues. Besides, $419 is MAC territory, of which are known as one of the best headers for these cars.

i was told that ceramic isn't really needed unless your racing. Being said that, i was told not go to with chrome because chrome builds up heat and just go with like a black coating

I know plenty of people running flowtech's. They are like $250. That's what I plan on running for a little while.
