well to be honest it's my mother's car and she have a cougar with the 5.0 in it. she stay's about a two hour drive from me so i haven't had a opportunity to check it out. the school is doing the job (you know all you have to do is provide the parts) and the instructor said that he had when he unplug the MAF the car idles correctly. what can cause this?
Well if he unplugged only the MAF, and not the harness to the IAT and MAF, when the car was warmed up(closed loop), it could mean that the MAF needs replacing. But it's not for sure without more tests.
the MAF is new, that's how come he unplugged it to see if that was the problem. i repeat, with the MAF sensor unplugged the car idled correctly, i know that leaving it unplugged might seem simple, but it's not right.
