There is no relay, if you have replaced the switch and they still don't work you need to look for a short. The switch has a circuit breaker in it, a short will trip it immediately.

How new is the switch? It is possible it has failed even if new.

If you are runing late model high ouput lights you probably burned up your switch.

Thanks guys. I am still running the old headlights. I have always had trouble with them. If I would run them on high beams during the hot weather, they would start flickering and then they would go off. So I would always either not use high beam or make sure to have the vent open by your foot which would cool it enough to run them. Been through a few of these switches. Man, there is nothing I hate worse than electrical problems! I guess I'll start looking for shorts.

Check your Hi Low beam switchfor loose connection. Follow the wires to the harness look for breaks or exposed wires. If it is shorted you will not have headlights. Been there.

I don't know what you consider your time to be worth, but tracking down a short can take forever (unless you get lucky). If it were me I'd simply replace that portion of the harness with a repro and be done with it. Then you'd have an even better sense of security, take that advice from someone who had a classic Mustang burn

Speaking of 70 headlight swich?

How the heck do ya get the thing out of the dash? I can't even get the knob to pull off, I'm afraid I'm going to break the switch?

Hehehe...you have to push the super duper ultra sectret button on the bottom to release the shaft.

Seriously

There's a very small button on the sheetmetal that you depress, then the knob just pulls right off.

The "secret" button is on the part behind the dash. pull the knob all the way out first. This is when the Ford manual comes in handy.

Ha Ha!!!!!!! I have been there done that with the fit of rage thing!!

Bob429 That is exactly what it was!! I unplugged the dimmer switch and checked voltage - fine. Looked like connector was corroded pretty good. Cleaned up and put some dielectric grease on - Wha la! Everything is working now. Now Just got to get my last problem of not being able to hook up fixed!
