can anybody tell me if the headlight/hazard switches are supposed to light up. it looks as if mine had an l.e.d. wired in them at sometime that exploded. If so, has anybody bought new ones that came with the light. The ones from autozone for $30 didn't appear to light up.

Saleen is absolutely correct.

Here are some pictures of the Defroster/Hazard light switch. The bulbs are replaceable, but if memory serves me right, you have to at least have the holder to put in a bulb like from radio shack. The headlight switch lights up , but is sealed and non replaceable bulbs.

thanks guys, i had no idea thats what that round thing was on the hazard side. also, i removed the cover from my headlight/fog switch and i think i'm going to try and take the switch apart and re solder an bulb on there. if not autozone here i come.

There was a thread on the bulb on here. I do know that you can't buy the bulb and base together. Just the bulb and put it in the base. So if you don't have the base then you could always use any bulb and do some engineering to make it light up the switch.

I used a red l.e.d from Radio Shack on my hazzard switch, and put it on the factory base it works like a champ. You have to make sure its an automotive 12v l.e.d not the low volt ones so it wont explode.
I also cracked open the HL switch and put some green l.e.d's in there now its a rich green and not a puke green, I'll take some pics when it gets dark.

Cool idea. I have really been wanting to add or change the light under the automatic shifter. It's not very bright at night and hard to see what gear its in.. Should be easy to add, but just haven't done it yet.

anybody happen to have a bulb number to replace the hazard one with. went to radio shack and didn't see anything. Also i ended up going to autozone and buying the $30 dollar headlamp switch.

The bulbs are #2182. I think the micro lamps that Radio Shack carries are too small, but they could work. You might try a hobby store. I think model trains use them.
