Headlights stay on when switch and vehicle are off.

So my neighbor knocks on my door and tells me my headlights are on (haven't drove my X in over 12 hours). I thought they were pulling my leg until I go outside and see my Headlights on and my tailights were not. I checked and my headlight switch was turned off.amnit: When I tried to start my Explorer the battery was dead. I tried to use my battery charger and it didn't work because the lights kept draining the darn charger.crapola All I could think of was to disconnect the negative terminal and waite until morning.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Maybe have a solution. I am hoping after I charge my battery charger over night it will have enough juice to start the Explorer and get it to my friends shop to look over.

This crap never happens when it is nice outside it always has to be cold. Needless to say the phrase F*&*ing ford was yelled loudly.

I know this doesn't have anything to do directly with a mustang but atleast it is a Ford.

No even though that is what it seems like currently with it messed up. It is a 95 Explorer nothing fancy just built for offroad. The good thing I am my own boss so I can take the day off tomorrow to mess with it. Thanks for the info on what to look for. Keep em coming.

That is what it seems like the the flash when you pass is engaged. But what is weird when I turn the key the lights shut off. That may be because the car is trying to draw power to turn it on therefore it kills the lights of power since the battery is totally dead. Hopefully tomorrow my Battery Charger will be charged enough to start the darn thing to get it to my friends shop to look at it without freezing to death outside.

Thank You everyone for your advice it really helps. I understand how the wiring works on lights but I was at a loss when the tailights were not on with the headlights since I do not have daytime running lights.

Took the X to my friends shop today and it was a result of faulty wiring (my fault about 6 years ago). I hooked the CB up wrong which over time got hot and fused some wires together and caused it to short circuit. So $177 later I got all new wiring for the headlights and some other items under the dash. Now this weekend I get to re-wire my Daylighters and my CB. Yippee.
