headlights

me and my friend would like to clean up our headlights on our 94 and 87 GT's cuz they are real foggy, i am goin to get new headlights but right now i don't have the $$ so i want them to look the best, what should we use? i heard sand paper? what grit should we go with? thanks

The cheapest and easiest way to improve their appearance is to buy some Mothers aluminum polish. Wax on, wax off. Makes a huge difference, although they won't look new. I did this on my 89. I bought cobra lights for the 94.

Wet sanding with 1500-2000 grit then using a rubbing compound to take out the scratches works great too.
