I put a 351W out of a 90 LTD CRown Victoria with 185 AFR Heads and the headers hit the steering gearbox slightly but the also hit the passenger side idler arm and the collector hits the floor board very badly. I am using 289 Motor mounts but what is going wrong? They clear when the motor is idle but just barely, put it in gear or give it gas and everything hits? Whats the problem? anyone else have issues?

Thanks

I too couldn't fit the hedmans

I couldn't get the Hedman long tubes to fit either.

Here is the play by play

Ring. Ring. Ring.

MD: Mustang Depot, how can I help you?

Me: I would like to buy a TCP rack and pinion, a grant 1130 steering wheel, and some headers. I don't know what headers to get so I need you to recommned some.

MD: What year car, what engine and what transmission?

Me: a 1969 Mach I with a 351W and a C6

MD: I have some hedman long tubes that will fit your car.

Me: Great. I will take those.

MD: Thank you for placing your order with Mustang Depot. We strive to deliver quality parts to our customers along with the best customer service after the sale.

Me: Great.

some weeks later:

Ring ring ring.

Me: Hello?

Jeff: Hey Jerry, it's Jeff. Listen, there is a problem with those Hedman long tubes. They just don't fit. I bolted one up but the other just won't clear. I can try and persuade it into place with a big beatin' iron but I don't want to.

Me: Fuqh! Ok, let me try and exchange them.

Ring ring ring

Mustang depot, how can I help you?

Me: I had you recommend some headers for me that don't fit. My builder cannot get both of them to clear. I want to exchange them.

MD: Our return policy is that headers that have been installed cannot be returned. You should have determined the correct header in advance and ordered those instead.

Me: That's the funny part. You recommended these to me.

MD: No returns. Our policy is clear.

Me: Your policy conflicts with the implied warranty for fitness for a particular purpose. It's in the UCC.

MD: No returns.

Me: that is not fair. If they don't fit, it is because you selected the wrong ones.

MD: NO RETURNS!

Me: Then you should not be recommending parts to people if you don't know your @ss from your elbow. If somebody asks you what fits, you should say "don't ask me. I just don't know. You should call Jeggs or Summit if you want to talk to somebody who actually knows what the fuqh they are talking about."

Me: Hello? Hello?

You know I find it rather funny that more than one person on these forums has bitched about Mustang Depot, and (Jay I think is his name) posts here on a regular basis.

If you are reading this Jay, you are getting a lot of bad press here.

Hello Gentleman

Our sales staff understands our return policy which is return or exchange within 30 days of purchase (standard throughout the industry). However, this does not negate the fact that we wouldn't be here without our customers. So if you have an issue that goes outside the lines of a regular return/exchange, you need to speak to a manager or myself! I travel to shows quite a bit so if I'm not in the office, an email is the easiest way to reach me.

Specifically what was the problem with your install. Whenever someone is mounting a rack, a manual trans etc, we recommend shorties. If you're committed to long tubes, they'll be bumps in the road with the various aftermarket products! If there's clearance issues with the shock towers, it's usually the due to sagging shock towers. Headers are almost always a pain in some way or another long or short.

We can take headers back for exchange in these circumstances, so you're not stuck.

As far as the forum goes on previous posts, we do our best to please all of our customers. However, we have people that will call and literally threaten a post if we don't take something back outside of the 30 days or with rediculous circumstances. Although we make judgement calls on close situations, we will not be blackmailed. Motive can also be questioned in some cases.

There's been complaints about delivery time by some of our east coast customers that select ground shipments. Well we're based in Vegas so it's going to take 5-7 bus. days for ground shipments. We had complaints about backorder notifications. We email our customers in these situations, sometimes they get deleted as Spam. We have since instituted a manditory phone call in these situations. We've had some complaints on fiberglass but many, many more compliments. We've worked directly with FSI on a superior line of fiberglass to provide our customers with better fitting, better finish glass. Even though it's superior to what's out there, it's tough to meet everyones standards especially on unibody cars. Every car is different. Fiberglass is not stamped steel. You have to work the finish for a show car.

As a long time enthusiast of these cars I started this company with customer service in mind. I am always available to my customers to date. With my outright love of the cars, I am constantly developing cool new aftermarket products which has put us into the forefront of the industry in a relatively short period of time. With that comes some growing pains as we strive for the excellence or customers deserve.

We have a friendly and courteous staff and we are here for our customers 100%. We appreciate all of your continued support.
