Heads and Edelbrock Intake

Wow, don't most people go the other way. I mean like buy some heads and decide to do the intake while they are in there (rather than get an intake and decide what the hey, and do heads too.)? Doing just the intake should be pretty easy and safe to drive without supporting mods, while adding in the heads really frees up the flow, and justifies the supporting mods as more immediately critical.

Keep us posted as you build it up.

I have an Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. I might just put that on and get some gears and try to hit high 13s and just save up money through the summer and get heads and stuff later. I hate waiting for stuff though. I don't I'll let you know what I decide to do but you guys can still make suggestions and I will take that into account.

I say just throw the intake and gears in and then save money for the heads and cam and do both those at the same time. the intake only takes a few hours to do. and the heads and cam will take you a whole weekend.

Sounds good. I was just thinking about heads because some of the quotes I got for gears were like $750 with a trac-loc rebuild. So I was thinking maybe I should actually make my car faster for that kind of money. I got to get quote from some different shops.

Yeah I showed the guy doing the work that the gears are only $140 and he said they aren't as good of quality as the $190 I was like how is that so they are the same thing in an email and I'm awaiting for his answer I'll let you guys know what he said.

Also it's $100 labor for the trac loc rebuild plus the $50 for the kit so that's why it is $150 I forget to mention that.

He emailed me back after I showed him the other price and said he can lower the price of gears to $160 and since it will be $150 from Summit shipped I can do that. I atleast saved myself $20.

The guy seems very knowledgeable and he said the reason labor is $300 is because it's a completely blue-printed rebuilt rearend. Other shops charge less because they just slap the rear back together.

There is also a warranty from his shop which is also a plus. I should be getting them installed when I get home from college which is the 9th. I'll start a new post once I get the Edelbrock Intake Manifold installed. Then another one when I get the gears installed.

Wish me luck!

Shoot if you want cheap and are shooting for that much hp, buy some Thumper heads for 600 bucks, and a Trick Flow stage 1 cam for $140 bucks then add your intake you have to that. That's 740 bucks (less then those GT 40 heads) plus you have a great cam.
