What do you want to do with the motor/car? Mild street build, AFR 165's are great although fairly expensive.

For a 306, anything from 165cc-190cc should be fine. Its not neccesarly how big the intake runners are that you should determine, its the flow ratings of the heads at lift you are wanting. If your running a bigger cam and it likes the revs, go with a larger cc, but since its a 306, I would recomend AFR 185, Canfield 192, RHS heads are also very good, and Trick Flow is always a good choice. I have Canfields on my 306 and love them.

Right on thanks for the help.. im looking to spend around 800 bucks.. Would love to get some afr heads but they about double the price im looking to spend. I also see a lot of people talking about different valve angles and not really sure why? Im guessing it has something to do with cam lift. I am not sure the cam lift or duration i have was already in the car when i purchased it .. Has a pretty good lope, comp cam

for 800 bucks your not gonna get much, if i was you id keep saving, even if you got a set of twisted wedge heads used by the time you have them decked and checked out you will be into them for a grand

you can find some good used heads for 800. i've seen tfs fast as cast go for 900 before never ran.

just make sure if you buy used, its a reputable seller. don't settle, heads are a big component and alot of work to install.

how about patriot heads? anyone use these, aluminium heads for about 950 i believe they are 180-185cc runners. i am thinking about throwing a set on my car until I can get a stroker built for next year.

No patriot heads, there is a reason they are cheap, it's because you'll have to put another $400 into them to get them right.

Look for afr 165's, twisted wedges, gt40x or edelbrock rpms.
Also be prepared no matter what you buy to get a valve job, even on brand new heads, it's worth the extra money.
