Heads Up BBK TB users

I was doing so work last night on my car and the work required the removal of my BBK 75mm Throttle body. As I normal each parts gets completely checked out before reinstall. Well to my suprise both of the screws that hold on the TB blade where loose not loose like a little bit but, loose like over a 1/2 turn loose..... Luckly I caught them before they completely back out and fell into the engine. This TB has maybe 2000 miles on it so I would recommend anybody that is using a BBK TB check there blade screws. I removed mine and locktited them on just to make sure they dont come loose agian.

Good call, locktite will work but next time I'm getting them welded on. That's screwed up (literally).

This was a notorious problem that BBK had for years. I haven't heard about it though for some time. I thought it was an "old" issue and was corrected. If you do a search you will find a lot of post about it. That is THE reason I went with my FMS one, I had heard horror stories of the screws backing completely out and making their way into the motor. It would be hard for it to make it all the way in, but it is possible if it came out. BBK's were also known to "whistle" too.


Jerry, I'd DEFINIETLY call BBK and tell them. They know this problem existed and I don't think they want to go through it again.

I bought a used BBK unit over 1 year ago. When I got it, I just put loctite on those 2 bolts before I even put it in.

It does whistle a little at part throtle, but now I dont even really notice it.

Good catch though!

I heard that was a reason why edelbrock went with a different throttle body company,not sure though it would stand to reason.

yeah, on page 55 of 5.0 magazine it says they're using "Magnetti Marelli" throttle bodies now.has any one heard about drilling the 1/4 " hole in the t.b to help with idle issues? I did that ,did'nt help, so I was stuck with a 1/4 " hole I did'nt need in the t.b, what did I do? I had to plug it with a 3/8 self tapper sheet metal screw,sos now when ever I check my tps or clean the t.b, I always gotta check the "torque" on my experiment The bull**** we learn somtimes,live and learn I guess.Hey if it swallows the bolt, then I'll blame it on BBK and have an excuse to get my 331 stroker thats in my future mods. Not that I expect BBK to be responsible and pay up some comp. but it'll be a goodnuff excuse to get past the wife.......I hope P.S I gotta new computer so look for more threads or replies of the wierd and the strange.Happy kills!
