heads with smaller combustion chambers....

Well my mechanic said we need to replace one head, so I figure why not replace them both. I would like to get some late model heads but still keep my compression or gain some. Are there any heads that have 58cc or smaller combustion chambers?

I dont think any factory late model heads are smaller than 62cc unless you go aftermarket or have them milled.

the gt40-p explorer heads have 58cc chambers but you'll have to have special headers to use them. there are several companies that make a tri-y style header for the "p" heads

Most aftermarket aluminum heads are 60cc, so you will gain lotsa flow and lose very little compression.

the only heads that have smaller combustion chambers are going to be early heads, like my 289 heads. they are 54cc chambers.

Just buy aftermarket 58cc heads ( your choice) then mill them another .040, that's about the max you can mill them without intake fitting problems. But with that Chinese intake, you may get by without milling it or it may need more milling than another brand. Can't tell for sure till you do the final assembly.

A guy from a local machine shop offered me a pair of E7 heads. He said he would mill them to get whatever compression I wanted up to 10 to 1, 3 angle valve job, new seats and some porting and assembly for $250. I think this is a good deal, anyone else agree? He has 10 pairs that are taking up space in his shop and says he needs to get rid of 'em.

Sounds like a deal to me, just don't mill them more than .040.
