Finished the headswap last night. Took me 3 evenings, 10 hours total, including oil change.Didn't get chance to take it for a spin, but it started right away, and the idle is nice and smooth.I'll take for a little drive tonihgt after work.
Anyone have any favourites, when it comes to getting a reflash? I read Modular Fords SCT is good.

I've still heard great things about the guys at Modular Ford Powerhouse, and SCT is always a good tuning group

Thanks guys!!!!
I bought the Head swap kit from Parkway Ford. Great place to deal with!! The kit is very complete, the only thing I had to do before I started the swap was tapp the crossover for the 2nd sensor. I portmatched the heads to the intake and polished the ports, but otherwise left everything stock. My Stang is a 98'GT and the heads and intake are 2004' .
I took it for a cruise tonight, runs very well, idle is good aswell. I wasn't sure if it was running a little lean or not so I didn't want to stomp on it too much. The swap sure added more ponies though, it wants to rev like crazy, hard to believe it's the same car.
Thanks again, for the great info!!!

Glad to hear you finished up with no hitches! Give it 500 miles before you stomp on it and then change your oil again.

Very nice. I have been putting my headswap off for over a year now but have promised myself it will be done before the year is up. I have decided to go with steen racing's heads. Did you have a list of parts with your swap? Would you mind posting all the part numbers?

Steen sells a complete kit that has eveything you need I think Parkway Ford has the same deal. Check out Steen's site I think they have a list of what is included. If you buy parts individually it will cost a little more.

I was looking to get that same setup from them. Please verify that you were able to use the original valve covers from your 98...Can't wait to do it!

Yup, just like tomustang says, they bolt right up. I just checked your web page 98stangv8, Wow!! You practicly built your own car!! Thats very impressive!! Looks great too!! Rats, too bad you didn't swap the heads before you stuffed in the motor, Oh well, this way you will know how much difference the swap makes.
I would deffinetly recommend Parkway Ford and the swap, allthough, as tomustang suggests, check the heads and parts over before you start the swap.

I have a set of PI's off a 99 GT and I was told I have to get valve-covers for them... So my 96 GT's valve-covers won't fit? Any cool polished or chrome valve-covers out there for 99 PI heads?

I haven't actually tried fitting the 98' valve covers on the 99' heads but from the research I've done, all the info I have says your valve covers won't fit. I wonder if you keep an out out for something on e-bay, even if you find a set of stockers you could get them powder coated, or chromed, not sure how expensive it would be to get them done.

Non-PI heads?? I thought 99 heads were PI heads? ...they say "PI" on the castings!

EDIT- Oh, ok I saw you edited/changed your post... So what is different about the 99-00 heads that won't allow the 96-98 valve-covers to fit?

96-98 and 2002-up use one style of valve cover and 99-2001 us another style. 91-01 engines are both Windsor and Romeo and all 2002-up engines are Romeo based.

you cannot powder coat or chrome the factory ones, since they are PLASTIC....I took mine to a place and they laughed..said they would melt during the process. I bought a set of BBK ones, they come in chrome or powder coated silver. I wanted mine blue, so I took them to a place, and they told me they had to remove the old powder coating, before they could put on the new stuff. Total cost was around $200 to remove and powder coat the new ones. I am glad I did it, looks a ton better!
