I have no personal experience but I do know a guy who used Lizardskin on his car and swears by it.

I would hve used the Lizard product but i didn't find out about till the car had come home from paint (I would have let the shop do it while the car was still papered and taped) The Lizard skin has a very good rep. It comes in 5 gal buckets and needs to be sprayed on. They recommend you buy ther spray nozzel as well. About 295.00 a bucket (They rec 2 for a car) and 200.00 for there nozzel. I went with a peal a stick heat and sound ins. Used spray cans of Boom mat in the doors and quarters pannels. All totaled I spent about 250.00 and six hours of labor.

I'll look into the lizard skin stuff, looks too expensive. What brand of peel & stick stuff did you use ?

I've used Dynamat Extreme on a couple cars, and that stuff works great, but its expensive. Lately I've used a similar but MUCH cheaper product called Thermo-Tec that works almost as well as Dynamat Extreme. You can get it at Summit, JEGS and other places:

I did a bunch of comparison research and decided to go with RaamMat:

http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi

Very similar to Dynamat and other rubber butyl based products. They also suggest using a special closed cell foam applied as well which further deadens the sound. I just started this project and have only completed 1 door, but to me the difference is night & day just rapping on the door panel. They are much cheaper than Dynamat, but have never used Dynamat myself so I cannot really draw a comparison. I just couldn't see spending $1k for sound deadening my car, so this seemed like a good way to go.

+1 on RAAMaudio. Used to go with Dynamat but the new car is getting RAAMmat BXT. Same effect, better pricing.

just right, the sound deadener showdown was really helpful. I don't see where the RAAM mat is much cheaper than The damplifier pro. Anyway, I'll definately use that guide to pick a product. I'm in Phoenix with a black car, it gets hotter than hell in there

I just bought dynamat extreme from amazon. 36 sq ft for $114 delivered which is pretty good. I'm replacing some spectrum from second skin audio that was on my floors. Spectrum is water-based sludge and I found some surface rust under it when I got my car back from the paintshop.

I did the entire interior in boom mat. little spendy, but there are some great deals on ebay for it. covered the roof, over the package tray, metal seat divider, floors, firewall, kick panels, etc.... cost around $500 to do the whole thing, but its amazingly solid and quiet. I dreaded driving the car with the interior out because of the noise and drone and its like a luxury car now...

A big issue here in Phoenix is the heat. A black car sitting in the sun for hours is major hot, my biggest concern is the pieces staying in place, not melting off. And it needs to be able to withstand that for years, not just a few hours, weeks.
All your input has been helpful, anything else to add will be appreciated.

i would recommend putting insulated mats on the roof's underside and tinting the windows and/or using a window sunshade.
