ok i got my bran new hei in the mail..
i am looking at this and I see that there are 2 slots one says Bat for battery and the other one says tach?? do i need to buy anything else for this??
I am upgrading from a stock dis.
I have a 67, 302.

No special terminals needed for the HEI. Just purchase 2 female spade connectors and crimp them on your wires. Just about any parts store should have them. If not sure what you need take the cap in with you to show them. No external coil is required for the HEI unless you remove the coil and use the adapter for using an external coil. Just be very sure you have 12v at the HEI at all times, not just at start but in the run position also. The stock coil wire drops it down to approx. 9v after start. I had to run a wire from the rear of my ignition switch to the "bat" terminal of the HEI, bypassing the original resistor coil wire.

As i said before, you need 12v constantly (start and run) so the original coil wire won't work because its resistive. I had to remove the ignition switch and connect where the original resistor coil wire comes out of the ignition switch. If you have a tach now, just connect your tach lead to the "tach" terminal of the HEI. Some pictures of my HEI are on my webpage under the mustang project.
