HEI ignition problems

Hi, new to the site to today and have a ignition problem. Just installed a HEI distributor kit, a 45,000 volt coil and the problem is a intermittent miss, backfires under acceleration, but the concern is not always present. Had bypassed the resistor wire at the ignition switch and run a new wire to the coil, should I have also included green/red wire ? This is on my 68 mustang. Thank you , Fred

Thanks for the reply, in reviewing numerous articles about eliminating pink resistor wire, it looks as though I did not cut close enough to the ignition switch to fully eliminate it. I am going to replace the wire along with the pin connector and hopefully it's corrected.
