I used to frequent here a lot, and now I'm back again. I have a '92 GT that I've owned for 13 years, and I just picked up an '87 GT as a new toy/project.

GT40 Heads, Explorer Intake, 70mm Edelbrock TB, 73mm C&L Ait meter, E-303 cam, BBK headers, BBK cold air kit. Ive already added Centerforce Dual friction clutch, adjustable clutch cable, 140mph speedometer and a Hurst shifter. Off road H and Flowmaster 2 chambers dumped.

The only downside right now is the stock 2.73 gears. I'm thinking of swapping the 3.73 rear diff from my '92 model, but I may go 4.10 since my brother and I set up gears anyway. Any suggestions there ? I do drive it 40 miles to work, and right now Im getting 22mpg. So would 3.55 be a better choice ?

Would it be safe to say this is a 285hp car like it is ?

Obviously its been converted to mass air and to 5 lug.

Anyway, its great to be back on this forum. Ive been out of the Mustang game for awhile guys, so forgive me for the newbie questions, Im rusty.

You may have 285 at the crank, depends on the condition of the internals. Looks good though, have fun with it!

nice car

I'd go 3.73 with the 5 speed but that's just me. If you want fuel economy then 3.55's are the safer bet

Tang419, , but it's been so long I couldnt get the password right.

My next order of business is getting the front raised back up, and the rear gears taken care of.

I'm already having fun with it, but the 2.73's definetly take some getting used to. It still has no trouble roasting them through 1st and into 2nd, which really shocked me.

I'm starting with some basic stuff: electric fan, removing the back seats, adding subframe connectors and tubular control arms, and will probably just swap the 3.73 geared 8.8 out of my '92 into it.

I kind of want to build an AFR headed, carb'd 347 for it. Not sure how to sneak that past the wife

But for now I do have a question for the more experienced. This car has an E-303 cam in it. I have an extra B-303 laying around. Would there be power to be had by swapping from the E to the B ?
