Hey guys I know, I know .. I gm guy on a ford board.. but I come in peace lol.

I'm sean and I drive an 05 GTO with a built/forged 402 stroker. she is somewhere around 480rwhp plus off the bottle.. I plan to spray in the future.

here is my car...




anyways I am seeing this girl who has an 03 mustang GT. she has flowmaster 40's and a K&N intake.

she isn't happy with the intake and wants a fenderwell intake..
do most of you guys just fab up your own or is there a company that produces FWI for mustangs??

also what are some other innexpensive go fast mods for these cars?? I was thinking 410's would be awesome bang for the buck..

any other thoughts or suggestions??

I think she should date a fellow Mustang guy...

Just kidding man...

Problem with fenderwell intakes is that they can suck up water and are very hard to install and change the air filter in.

We had GTO and F-body owners as moderators around here, at one time. I'd say that means you're just as welcome as the rest of us.

Fabbing up your own might be the simplest way to go for a FWI/CAI. There's probably some on eBay for next to nothing, too. 4.10's would really wake the car up. Otherwise, what sort of budget is there to spend on go fast goodies?

not a huge budget... she is also into appearance stuff so I'm open to suggestions there.


what are some good boxed intakes?? I wanna stay away from an open filter element IE hot air intake. lol

You can get only an intake tube only from C&L. That way she can still
use the stock airbox with the snorkle removed. I combined a MAC
fender well CAI with the stock set up cause getting to the filter when
in the fenderwell was a pita.

When it comes to intakes and the like, there are simply too many to sound them off here. You can't really go wrong with Steeda as a supplier for stuff like intakes:

I'd recommend clicking some advertiser links here and even picking up a MMFF (Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords) or 5.0 magazine at a news stand. The articles aren't much use, really, but they're chock-full of advertisers selling everything from driveshafts to projector headlights.

Cheap go-fast-parts... 4.10s would be good and so would an off road X or H pipe. If you go the o/r X route, you will probably want to get rid of those slow masters. They sound terrible with o/r X pipes in my opinion. Not sure how they sound with the o/r H though. I like my Magnaflows with my SLP o/r X, but if I had it to do over again, I would try the Bassani o/r X with their catback.

I had some fitment issues with mine (pre-blower). It rubbed on the strut tower and put sideways pressure on the oil filler cap. I didn't care for the giant tubing which I think was way-overkill for just about any n/a 4.6. I also didn't care for the super-smooth plastic tubing lacking any sort of "receiver groove" on the outer surface for clamps to bite into.

I did like the placement of the filter and MAF both in the fenderwell (which keeps the MAF from being placed right after a 90-degree bend, preserving good, accurate airflow readings) though I also don't drive mine in the rain and don't have to worry about deep puddles or flash floods.

How long ago did you have the JLT intake? Tucker is always updating his designs. The reason I recommend JLT is not because I have ever owned a JLT product it is because of the excellent customer support and presence on the forums.

I owned it for a couple of years I guess. It didn't fit with the KB (the KB puts the TB just that much closer to the strut tower) and had to remove it.

I never really had any trouble with it, really. The tubing itself took the brunt of the rubbing and the oil filler neck withstood the sideways pressure and never ended up giving trouble. I never really had any issues with the product and so never had to make use of customer support.

I will say the car was much happier with this intake than the K&N FIPK that preceded it. With the K&N I experienced detonation at a particular point in the RPM band which disappeared after the JLT went in. As an intake designed to deliver cold air to the engine, the JLT is definitely up there among the best.

I just thought I'd give a little perspective, a mini-review if you like. Overall, I liked it and wish it would fit with the KB because I'd love to feed cold air to that thing through those big fat tubes...

Nice GTO - black is beautiful and you've done a fine job with the mods.

The best bang for the buck would be the 4.10 gears as mentioned, along with an off road midpipe (if you don't have to worry about local emissions testing).

JLT or nothing - I was watching my IAT on the livewire when I had a MAC CAI (metal piping) and when I installed the livewire the temps dropped anywhere from 20 to 30 degrees depending on speed, etc. The cheapest/most effective mod for your GF would be, as mentioned earlier, either gears or a handheld tuner.
