Progress Thread Hello All! Just Picked Up A 2002 Gt

it has 180k and runs great. Looking for more HP. Been looking at the BBK throttle bodies and the BBK cold air intake as well.

Any recommendations on size of the TB? 70, 73? Dont want to have to do a huge tune and I have read with the 73 you don’t have to.

It is an automatic tho.

Thanks for helping a newb!

Nice ride. Welcome to the forum. Looks like you already got a good cold air kit. Kn is a great brand. As for throttle bodies, you won't get a lot out of it. The old rule of thumb was 70mm for naturally aspirated and bigger if you plan on forced induction down the road.

What else is done to the car? Throttle body money may be better spent on another mod. Them things aren't exactly cheap.

Nothing else done except Borla attack exhaust. What should I do for more ponies? Off the line

I suggest sub frame connectors and 4.10 gears for better acceleration and handling. If you want more power long tube headers and a shorty x pipe would gain you some more horsepower.

Hey man

I didn't quite finish haha anyways yea don't in my opinion don't waste your money on a bbk throttle body go for a professional products intake manifold and plenum kit. I run it and it's pretty awesome and it also makes the engine look nicer.

At 180k though I'd look into some head work and timing chain/guides. And if you're going to pop the heads off do cams.

Best advice is get everything you need and do it all at once a throttle body isn't gonna do much for you.

Keep your current K&N intake. If you are looking at throttle bodies / plenum I would go for a 75mm. 75mm will give you a smidge more power then 70mm without needing a tune.

Bolt on upgrades are easy but when you add up the receipts you spend a ton of money for small gains in horsepower - focus your efforts on intake / exhaust upgrades that line up with long term plans (complement any forced induction plans). Forced induction by far is the best way to add some pep to your car long term.

3.73 gears, stall, sub frame connectors, 75mm tb and plenum (accufab if you can afford it), new plugs, change fluids and have fun.

Slap some giggle juice or a blower on it and have fun.

Then get real nasty and put cams and valve springs on it and you'll run 11's. :)
