My daughters 2.3 auto 89 notch died in the high school parking lot today. I trailered home, and so far....

I cranked it with a timing light on no 1 plug wire and she seemed to have spark at about the right place.

I put a gage on the rail, and had 0 psi while cranking.

We put 2 gals in and fuel pressure came to about 25 and she fired up. Put 12 more gallons in at the station. It was out of gas, but the gage said half full. guess my advice to set the trip odometer did not work....

I fried my Actron scanner by hooking it up backwards to the battery, so now I can't get the codes, except by the check engine light.

Once running, it starts easily, idles for 30 seconds, then begins to slow down, idle roughly, and then stalls, especially in drive. In park, it will idle, but somewhat roughly. It repeats this behavior at each stop sign, or low speed turn. Always starts quickly and drives away.

The check engine light is on.

In od/fourth, pushing the gas pedal gets no result, it does not accelerate, just acts like it wants to slow down. If you accelerate slooooowwwly, it will pick up. If you floor it, it will belatedly downshift and take off. From a start, it is a bit slower, but will move up to 55 ok.

Any and all suggestions appreciated....

Thanks.

After a long Sat, and thanks to some great hints from jrichker on the 5.0 side, here, I changed the EEC4 box to a spare, and got it to flash codes, which pointed to the MAP sensor, so I put a spare one in, and she's fine!

Also got a code for the EGRV solenoid, which I have not changed yet.

But she seemed to run fine again, so I wll get that later.
