Sometimes after i put my car (2001 GT auto tranny) into drive after reversing out of the driveway it will stall out and completely die. This has only happened a few times, but I have no idea what could be causing it. Has anyone had this problem before?

May be several things.

-Clogged fuel filter
-Weak fuel pump
-needs a tune up
-bad Idle Air Control Valve
-dirty air filter

Now the car should not die if the air filter is dirty but a combination of what I listed may cause the issue. Have you changed the spark plugs on the car at all? Im going to bet its a bad idle air control valve. Or it could be a loose vacuum line in the engine bay. Does the car idle rough when in neutral or park? Is it hard to start?

We need some more information to get a precise idea as to what may be causing the issue. Oh and welcome to the forum!

I haven't changed the spark plugs since I've had it, but they seem pretty fresh. It runs fine normally, but sometimes after putting the car into gear (usually when the engine is warm) the RPM's will surge low and it will just completely die and a CEL will come on. After turning the car off, it works fine again with no light.

Go and have the codes scanned for your check engine light, that will give us an idea as to what is the issue or help you narrow it down.

No codes came up with the OBD scanner. The CEL only comes on when it stalls out, but it doesn't show on the scanner. The car seems to idle pretty low and want to stall out only when the car is warmed up completely.
