if you could get a hold of an Electronic Vibration Analyzer, this would be a lot simpler.. a few readings from the screen, some math and *bam!!* theres your answer. if you can find a Ford tech (i think any dealership should have one), see if he can get his hand on the EVA, theres a new one out now thats more advanced, i forget what its called..so im sure they wouldnt notice the old EVA missing for a day.

thats the way i would go about it if youve already ruled out the obvious

How about a harmonic balancer?

If the problem is at 2500 rpm in any gear, then it's not the driveshaft or the wheels. I'd suspect that the outer ring of the harmonic balancer slipped. The 5.0's are pretty notorious for doing just that.

I have a 92 lx and It started after new headers, motor mounts, I have "seat" vibration at about 40 -50 MPH U joints are fine but it looks like the balancer has a wobble I have had the tires balanced too
this drives me crazy
long story short _ driveline was out of balance!!

if you mean the harmonic balancer on the crank then it's probably time to replace it. they are a 2 piece unit and when they start to come apart the wobble and vibrate the car.

if you mean the tire balance has a wobble and the rims are straight, then the tires would need to be replaced or possibly load balanced.

seat vibration is usually engine, driveline or rear tires.
