i have narrowed it down. to compcams xtreme 268 or vt stage 1 i am wondering which will give the most horsepower gains and which is better for a daily driver also i do not want to change valve springs thanks for the help

I know this ain't what you asked but Crane makes a new Z-cam set.I haven't read much about them yet but they talk a good fight. The main thing when buying cams is to get the ones that match your engine's flow rate and driving style best.Future mod's are also a high priority.Call the cam grinder and talk to them, they just love to show people how smart they are. :D

The VT stage 1's have gotten HUGE positive response from the Mustang community .. both here, and totally, over at MD. So much in fact that they are pretty difficult to find lately. IMHO, can't go wrong with cams everyone else has great things to say about.

I'd consider the Comp XE262AH if I was you. I've seen dyno tests on very similar cars using the 262AH and the VT Stage 2 respectively and they are very close. In the tests I saw, the Comp Cams equipped car was slightly better.

You won't have any P/V clearance issues with the 262AH either.

BTW: I'm assuming you have a 99+ GT.

I saw this cam featured on powerblock they used a stock no tune 4.6 and got 11rwhp.

The comp's are the highest output units i've seen on the net with the dyno sheets to back 'em up.. VT1's have been getting 30~ish rwhp.. i seen one guy get 33rwhp.

There is a good article in the Sept. 2005, maybe it was the Aug. 2005 Muscle Mustand and Faster Ford mag. :nice:

They got 30-40 something flywheel HP on a stripper no accessories engine stand dyno and am sure they used Crane.
They did not use VT in their comparo (correct me if i'm wrong).
I seen multiple dyno sheets getting 30 AT THE WHEEL.

with a set of longtubes on a 99GT PI motor, with a k&n intake, ported plenum, and o/r x pipe with a mac catback, what kind of gains should i look for and what kind of cams should i go with? I was thinking comp 270's, and i can change the springs but some say its too much cam? I dont really know. A supercharger MAY BE in the future.... but want power NOW! ;)
