I can't get the old fan motor off. There was a retaining clip which I removed, and now there is a little metal peice sticking out, and I can get the fan motor separated from the fan.

Chiltons says that if there is a 'burr' sticking out (I take it the metal tip sticking out is the burr), then I have to "de-burr" it. WTF? I have everything ripped off my car right now, and I'm stuck. I Have no idea how to get it separated without breaking the POS.

Please help.

haha this is funny dude..........just got done with the SAME exact thing your going through less and an hour ago! You'll be glad to know that it is really simple to seperate. To "deburr" the motor shaft I just took a metal file and went to town by hand.......took no more than 10 minutes max. After it was deburred, the motor still wouldn't seperate from the fan. I grabbed a punch and hammer and gave it a few good smacks and........presto!! Also, you'll be glad to know that the new motor just slides right in. I hope this helps you out bro........let me know if you need anything clarified.

I'll try to find a good metal file. Thanks for the response.

I cut the tip off since my last post, but I couldn't get it close enough, so I'll try to file the rest down...

Well, I got the fan motor off, but not without breaking the plastic around it. Frusteration didn't help.

I filled the living $HlT out of the thing too. Oh well. Time to return my fan motor for a new motor and fan.
