Same thing happened to me and after cleaning the IAC she ran perfectly~I hope thats it too, easy fix
would your stang idle right after you cranked it.because his stang idles great until you give it some gas and upon returning to idle it stumbles and dies most all the time...

take a hammer and LIGHTLY tap the IAC valve a few times to break up the carbon buildup. i did that on mine when it started to die ~10k miles ago. it ran great after that, and i just had to "tap" the IAC again last week when it started acting up again. i just dont wanna shell out $80 for a new IAC valve

EDIT:damn, Mike beat me to it....hah. Mike i wanna know honestly how many times people come in for dying, and the techs tap the IAC to correct, then charge 1.5 for an IAC r/r. haha

I would rather use a long handled screwdiver than an actual hammer to tap the IAC myself...
i didnt say to use a sledge. a hammer is fine, but if you are such a hauss like trout, and have too much strenth, you can use a long handled screwdriver. most people have a hammer though.

if it happens again pull the code if it says PO4xx evap emmissions system leak detected (small/gross leak) culprits are the filler cap or the neck assembly to tank itsself, what happened to mine recently. basically the fuel tank cant get pressureized to what it should be at, making a no no condition.

things to look out for:
*drip by fuel tank(passenger side)
*smell of raw fuel
*the above mentioned code

I have had this happening for the past couple months, and just replaced the IAC and it didn't help at all. Here is a stupid question, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but when you install a new IAC should you disconnect the battery so that it can relearn the idle?

It never hurts to reset the PCM (disconnect battery) anytime you are making changes to the car such as replacing or upgrading parts.

Custom tunes are NOT LOST when resetting PCM.
