the other night i drove home from work, a 2 minnute drive, when i got home i shut my car off and when i hit my power locks to lock my doors nothing happened, i noticed my interior light wasnt on either, i went to turn my car on and all i got was silence. it will not even crank the slightest bit. what could have caused this?

dead battery....if nothing electrical turns on and you hear no crank then the battery is dead...turn on the headlights...if they don't come on or are dim then the battery for sure...and don't replace the battery without having the alternator inspected too..

So as soon as you hooked up the new batt there was still nothing? If you put it in and let it sit overnight with a bad alt that could drain it.....otherwise I would think that if it happened immediatly there is mabye bad connections on the terminals or the wires are shorting out.

I'm with you it has to be battery related...course if you put in the new battery and you got accessories back but it wouldn't start then you might also have an ignition problems..but try buying new terminals and wires...should be cheap and easy to install...and if this doesn't do it then I am stumped..

Take a look at the grounds up by the battery. Those green screws are for the interior electric and they have a history of getting corroded. I remove them grind down to good metal, sand the ring terminals, and tighten back up.

could a bad solonoid do this though? kill all power from the battery ?

NO, there ae no important solenoids on our cars except up on the starter. It has no effect on anything except when the key is switched to the start position it then allows the full battery supply to turn the starter motor.
