Hey guys, I was hoping to get a quick response on here before I go to the place I had the tow truck take my Mustang. Basically, I was working on my car yesterday, then I went to start it and the engine sounded like it cranked 1 time before the battery just completely died. So then my friend came and we tried jumping my car. I was getting power, but as soon as I tried starting it, it did the same thing, completely drained all of the power and didn't so much as make a noise when trying to start it. I'm hoping it's just a dead battery? It's done this one or two other times, the latest time was back in April, it died for no apparent reason, but it started right up when my friend gave me a jump. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm... while I hadn't found that post while searching before, I don't think that's what's wrong with my car because while I was hooked up to my friend's battery, I would have power until I tried starting it, where the power would disappear, only to reappear once I turned the key back to the "on" position. I guess I can try checking that, though.

If you follow those steps it will help you narrow down the problem.

If you have a mulit meter, hook it up to the battery (Voltage setting) and turn the key like you were trying to start the car, see what the voltage does. If it drops real low something is wrong with the battery, either low on charge, very weak or dead cell, etc...

Turns out the problem was bad terminals. They fixed it for $20. I knew all that rust couldn't be good...
ah, you beat me to it. i was gonna say that no jump in the world will help if you dont have good connections (generally battery grounds go south).

nice work. :)
