Odd considering the car started yesterday. I have a stock 1965 Stang and for some odd reason it won't start up right now. When I turn the key to ON position all of the electricity comes on but when I turn the key to START nothing happens. I mean absolutely nothing happens, the motor does not even attempt to crank over, so basically there is nothing happening. Any help would be much appreciate.

Thanks

Check that battery has full voltage and that there is no corrosion on the terminals.
Play with the shifter(automatic?) in P and N to see if the neutral safety switch might be the culprit.

Also check the starter relay, my wire popped off once and gave me the same issue.

Thanks a lot Leonforte it was the neutral safety switch. The car starts fine in neutral but still does not start in Park. What do I do to make it start in park.

Thanks

What kind of tranny is it C4? I believe the swith is nylon and could just be broken at that point. Take a look at it.

sometimes the shifter is "sloppy" and won't engage the neutral safety switch in P. you can replace the worn bushings(there are 2) to tighten up the shifter-pretty easy to do

I just got a hold of an old family Mustang that had been neglected. It is a 67 289. It won't start or turn over at all. I've searched several threads, including this one, to find where to start looking to solve the problem.

Are there any other basic things to check other than battery, starter relay, and neutral safety?

Thanks for your help in advance. I don't really know what I am doing, so I am sure you'll be seeing a lot of me in the next few months.

the battery, starter relay and NS should be the main ones. I had a problem once where the car cranked but no juice, turns out the 12v lead to my ingnition coil was grounded somewhere.
