Help: code P1443

[1997GT4.6]

I went to autozone and found that the Evaporative Emission control system valve is not working correctly.

Is this something that someone who isn't that engine savvy can do? what all tools do I need? I dont have a manual or anything, does anyone know the procedure for changing this thing?

a lot of times its the evap purge solenoid. im pretty sure its a dealer only item. its fairly easy to change, 2 vacuum hoses and an electrical connector. the vacuum hoses only go one way because they are different sizes. its located by the firewall by the passengers side valve cover.

also check to make sure you turned your gascap till it clicked last time you got gas.
