Help! Driver seat is loose

I started noticing the driver seat in my car being loose in turns. I can feel it move right under the butt, but the rest of the seat (back, sides) are firm.

I have tried pulling and pushing the seat from side to side on the rails, and it is not loose there, which makes me think it has something to do with a loose bolt in the power seat mechanics below.

Does anyone know if I have to repolster the seat to fix it, or how I can get the seat off and work my way in from underneath?

It's not major, but I definitely hear/feel something move sometimes during hard cornering...

Did you inspect all of the bolts holding the seat?

check all the bolts underneath..your seat may just be wearing out...I got my seats for under 300 for the set...and love them...hard as hell to put in, but def worth it

I think the problem is further up in the seat and I am not sure how hard it is to get the seat off and if I get it off; can I even get into the powerseat mechanism to tighten anything? A mirror or a camera below would probably be a good idea, but I would still like insight from someone who knows about the powerseat structure.

98stangv8> I am pretty sure you are right about the loose bolt, as mentioned above - it's just getting to it. Your seats are nice, however I'd like to keep the ones I have now, so I am not quite ready to go that route .

Nope, it's only going to get worse, so find a solution before it is too late and share it with me .

On a more serious note, I will probably see if I can get under the seat this weekend and figure out how hard it is to take apart. Just wish someone had a diagram or could give me a direction of how to disassemble it (eg. number of bolts, positioning). .

Go to Autozone and pickup one of those Haynes manuals. They have a complete teardown/rebuild w/ pics for around 8 bucks. Great to have as a reference.

I got hold of the Mustang Service Manual, and it helped me get the seat out without a problem. I tried troubleshooting the components for quite a while, but still no luck after assembling it again.

If you look at the first attached picture, it shows the bottom of the seat. The framed green area shows the entire piece that I was able to slightly move back and fourth. It seemed to me like the "bolt's" hole (framed with red) is a little bigger than the "pole/screw" part thereby causing the movability.

The yellow arrows shows the screws and bolts I tightened and the next picture shows the "bolt" in close up.

After reassembling it, the seat was still loose and the powerseat engine had a harder time moving the seat, probably because I tightened something I shouldn't have.

When I test drove it on a deserted street, I swerved left and right and felt with my right hand behind the seat. It seemed like the rail attached to the floor was firm, but the rail attached to the seat was moving away from the floor rail.

Would the "bolt" I am referring to as a possibly problem cause this behaviour or should I work on another part of the seat?

Same thing here. I had the dealership look at it, and they said everything was solid that they could tighten. Doesn't seem to get worse, but can definitly feel it over bump, and hard into corners.

My car does the same thing. I couldn't figure it out either, so I'm living with it.

FYI - I send an email with the picture to a friend/mechanic, and ofcourse hard as it is troubleshooting looking at a picture, he couldn't tell for sure, but he thought it was the "bolt" I have framed in red and included a close up of.

I am going to order a new part, install it and get back here to let you know if that was the culpret.

lgndracer> When my car was under warranty I only felt it in the situations you describe and the dealership gave me the same story. I suggest you print out the pictures I submitted and ask them to check the part on your car.
