Hey, so the front end of my 1994 mustang gt is clunking and making a cracking noise at low speed when i turn the wheel. I got it checked out and the tech said it was my rack and pinion and that it would be $800 to repair. Is this a reasonable price to repair this sort of thing? My friends back home said that the sound is more likely my ball joints. I have new outer tierod ends so it cant be that. This problem also resulted in very irregular tire wear to the outer rim of my tires. It doesnt seem to me that this sort of noise could be from the rack???? Please help because I dont trust these people and I feel like they are trying to **** me over by fixing something more expensive than needs to be!!!
