3/8 drive universal joint and 3/8 drive short or deep socket, a whole lot of wd-40 or liquid wrench, better yet some Power Blaster(let soak for a few min), then try not to bust a knuckle......good luck.

My headers had to be taken off and then it was easier to install new headers instead of fight the pain in the a$$ of getting the old bolts out. That was one day my credit card will never forget. And to think, I went in to have my clutch replaced and came out $1153 later.

i just used my big mofo ratchet and a long (yeah, it was the 12") and the deep socket..... I got all for on the headers with just those.... no universals...

i did use a lot of liquid wrench

the only hard thing for me was hacking off the little collector pipe (twice, once to remove and again to trim so the new one would fit )

What everyone else said. A lot of extensions, deep sockets, universal joints and WD40!

Definately need universal joints!! And if you want to make life easier for you, just get new bolts/nuts. Don't try to get ones matching the stock bolts. Just get bolts that are a little smaller than the stock ones. Then use an open end wrench to hold the head of the bolt, and put nuts on the bottom. But get fender washers and lock nuts. You don't want them coming out!

For removal of the collecter nuts, you definately need u-joints. The 3/8 u-joint is an imperitive tool!

Also, how did the bolts break? I mean, did the nuts get stripped? Or did the actual bolt break off? Did it break off before, or after the nut that is attached to the bolt itself. If the nut is still there, you can get a deep socket, and unscrew the bolt from the collecter flange.

alright thanks guys i'll try all that today....the bolts broke off right where the nut goes on at the bottom of the collecter....cant really tell if there are studs in the collectors or not...hoping theres someway i can just unscrew them....if not i was thinking i'd just drill them out as the new h-pipe came with all new hardware....does anyone know if they screw in or am i gonna have to drill?

well michigan weather comes again...yesterday it was 45 and sunny and today its snowing....car is up on stands...no h-pipe...i'm going to try to finish it this weekend sometime...i'm going to grind off the studs and drill them out and put in new ones..i think that is the easiest way at this point...also...can i just let the egr tube hang or does it have to be hooked back up?

Don't let it hang...

Just do whatever you have to remove them damn bolts, even if it takes drilling them or just cutting them off.

Cause you can always buy new bolts etc.. but I am pretty sure you said that it came with new bolts etc.

yeah..... what did everyone do with their EGR tube?? I cut it just enough to where it would join the new collector pipe on the h Pipe, and then used a metal tube to join them then had some metal wrap to go around it......

pretty ghetto but it works....

you should be fine, but I wouldn't road trip in it or anything like that. Just try not to get pulled over for "excessivley loud exhaust." I'm sure that I'm not the only one in this forum who's gotten bagged for that...

The studs can be unscrewed from the collector. They are really tough to unscrew. I used a deep socket which had a 1/2 in drive, so I could get the biggest ratchet I could get on it. Or, you could get an adapter, so you can put 1/2 drive ratchet on the 3/8 drive socket. Whatever works. When I took off my stock h-pipe, one of the studs started unscrewing itself from the collector, because the nut on the flange wasn't wanting really stuck on the stud.

Note to self......don't use an impact gun to tighten exhaust bolts

Just get a deep socket, u-joint, and long extensions, and remove the studs. The studs have a 14mm (i think) nut welded onto them, so w/ a socket you can remove the studs from the collector. Once you get it out, replace the studs w/ machine screw bolts. Drop the bolt in from header, down into the flange, and put nuts on them. You are done. Don't forget fender washers and lock nuts, as I said before.
