Well I hit the Dyno with my Meth Injection kit installed and lost of boost, well the car lost power. I need bigger headers, I currently have 1 3/4. So I called around and the cheapest set I found was around 650.00 and 6-8 weeks for delivery. That sucks but I need at least a 2" header. My question is can I use any late model headers on my 67 stang? I willing to cut the shock tower if needed. I have a 302 block and Brodix m2 racing heads. Has anyone heard of anyone putting late model headers in our cars? Please help, I am pissed.

How much before and how much after? I know it is a different animal, but turbo guys have made over 1000rwhp with 1 5/8 headers. I wonder if something else is up like blown out spark or too much fuel with the methanol.

How was it clear that the headers were holding you back?

1 3/4 headers should be all you need. Like Brian mentioned, there's guys making stupid amounts of power from 1 5/8th... I really doubt that the headers was your problem.

your rightTurbo's don't need header, roots blower do. Every blower guy I have spoken to, including Hampton's told me the same thing, I need more header. The car feels like it hits a wall at high rpms with high boost. Most roots blown cars do to tq need big headers

I have never heard of loosing power because of exhaust when the exhaust was not changed. How tight are your plug gaps? Your headers might be on the small side, but there is something else causing power loss.

What was the AFR with the methanol kit ? ENTIRELY possible with it you lost power.Loss of boost is understandable with a supercharger. You are only moving X amount of air.If you cool it down, it becomes more compact, and not as much of a restriction. My buddy just threw on a set of cams and huge ported heads. He lost like 4psi, same pulley setup. But think of the the meth kit like race gas. Your effectively raising the octance level, and cooling the inlet charge. You can't usually throw in race gas and pick up. You have take advantage of it. More timing, or more boost. If power is made on the verge of detonation, and you raise octane, you just lowered the cylinder pressure ? And alot of guys are running as high as 12.5-1 on the injection kits as opposed to 11.5-1. Something to look at, or did I just make it more confusing than it needs to be ?

I just bought Hooker Super comp 2" dia tubes for my race car but it was for a Fox body w/351W. Those headers were/are the biggest piece of crap I could throw money at as it used an adapter plate to attach my AFR 225 heads to Trick Flow R pipes. If you go with 2" tubes make sure they are one piece design otherwise they will leak!

Anyone try to make custom headers, I see they sell a kit in jegs for custom headers.

If I had a TIG I would do it. Im really picky though, I just couldnt build some MIG'd headers. Its not THAT hard, I know a couple honda guys that do it. Just take your time and dont get frustrated. Tack it all and work slow.

I think gaps are at 40...
that's alot of gap for a blown setup. close them to .030.
did you add timing when you added meth? you'll lose power if you don't add timing and/or boost. how are your valve springs? can you post a graph?

bottom line:
1) .040 is too much gap.
2) you'll lose power with meth if you don't add timing and/or boost.

I'm not sure what there are gapped at. I had my father and the engine shop set the motor up. I can ask them, yes we added timming and tried everything. We are positive it the headers. I even called the guy who built the blower and designed my set up and he said I need a 2" header. Its simple math, I can't flow what I put in.
