This was the only numbers I could access from the intake and front of the block. on the intake is a big S and G and between them is C6AE 9425 the valve covers state its a 1970 428ci and I still want to be sure its not just a fake. Block has 352 8 cast into it which I couldnt remember if my 390 had an 8 too or if the different FEs had different numbers below the 352 stamp.

Its a 1966 Casting number, but they keep the same number if no changes are made, so I am not sure.

The intake is a common part, NOT CJ. Does it have a holley carb on it? Look between the middle two spark plugs on the heads. The CJ heads will have "C8OE 6090-N" cast into there. The rest, you'll need to pull the pan to confirm. The crank will have '1U" or "1UB" or "1UA" cast into it. The rods won't have the common 9/16" bolts. The CJ rods use a very uncommon 19/32" nut.

easiest way to ID a 428 ( or 410 ) is to look for the counterweight on the flywheel or flexplate. Could be a std 428 if not a 360/390/410.

I *think* 1969 was the last year for the 428. I will shamefully confess failure if I am incorrect.

1970 was the last year of the 428 in the Mustang.

That would be 1970 Mustang wise. Hence the powerplant of the 70 R code cars and the G.T.500s. Not sure the last year of the 428 itself though.

In 1970 the 428 was also used in police interceptors and in the Mustang's cousin, the Cougar. I think these were the only applications for this motor (428 both CJ and non-CJ) that year, and it was the last year.

The 428 was available later than 1970 in industrial and agricultural applications.
