I am going to install a Pioneer Navigation system (the AVIC-D1) I know several of you have done this. What did you use for a wiring harness as I cannot find one anywhere. And, did you need any extra brackets or anything to fasten the unit in? How did you remove the old unit? Also, I have the shaker 1000 anything special I need to do to get it to function right after the install, other than connecting the remote turn on switch?

Thanks in advance

Bill

Your going to need a 2003+ Ford premium sound wiring harness and a double din mounting kit which you can purchase from crutchfield.com. To remove the radio, open up your center console and remove the two screws. Then lift up on the entire console and slide back a couple inches. Then, pull the side pieces off by grasping from the back and pulling forward out from the dash. After the two side pieces are off, remove the 7mm screws from around the dash. The hvac controls are very tight so you will have to disconnect them from the side by reaching up behind the dash from each side of the car and unhooking them. After they are off you can pull the dash off and then remove the 4 7mm screws holding the radio in.
