there was recently a thread on this. My mechanic took off my upper and lower intake and says oil is getting into the manifold because the intake gasket port openings are too big and doesn't match the intake ports very well which is probably causing airflow restriction.I looked at it and the gasket holes are not well aligned with my Cobra intake and are a lot larger than the heads' intake ports. He says as a result air and oil is being sucked into the holes near the back of the intake. now i have this problem but i have the trick flow track heat package. my question is why is my motor doing this if this was a package meaning the gaskets should match. i did buy the car a month ago and the person had a shop do the work. could this also be my problem???????

Not sure what exactly your talking about other than the fact it sounds like your pulling oil up throught your PCV system into the intake..which is very common. Common on higher milage engines for oil to make it up there as well. Look around on here or on the steeda site for the "oil separator" that can be installed inline between the PCV valve and the intake to knock out oil from the air entering the intake.

It sounds to me like you need a port match your upper and lower with your gasket, except trick flow intakes are suppose to be port matched already. And yeah, ur gonna pull oil into ur intake if you have high mileage, get use to it.

If your intake gasket is doing this
http://forums.stangnet.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37227
you will see oil in the intake, as described by your mechanic. If the lower gasket is centered around the ports, you will not see oil in the intake from runners.

The picture is from my motor. Several months ago, when I built the motor, the lower intake gasket slipped down when I installed the lower intake. The front intake runner (far right in the pic) had a vac leak to the lifter valley. This caused all kinds of problems as the result was a vac leak and oil in the intake.
Regardless of your combo, if the gasket is centered properly there should be no issue with the lower intake gasket.
The pcv is a very common problem. Solutions include an oil seperator on the pcv line and possibly a restrictor in the TB/VC hose.
