I am going to do a EFI to carb swap on my '90 GT. I know that I want a set of AFR 165 heads and Edlebrock RPM intake but need help with choosing a roller cam that is compatable with a carbed set up - If I was to leave it EFI I would look for something like the TF stage 1 cam or FMS E cam - and also need recomendations on a good carb.

I am planning on using a mechanical fuel pump for simplicity, I know that I will need a new distributor... but what else?

Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated. Also what are your thoughts on going carbed - good decision in terms of bang for the buck?

I did this in my 1988 GT and had the performer RPM heads, Performer RPM air gap intake(which I have for sale). I also had a F cam with this setup and Holley 650 doublepumper. I went 12.6@106 on seven cylinders. I had an intake valve that wouldn't prime up. Before the heads cam and using a weiland 8011 intake I went the best of 13.299 twice at 105. Lost a cylinder and just heads, intake, and camshaft netted 6/10 faster. A friend has the same setup and goes 11.89's@111 with 3.73 and has old old slicks. No suspension with his or mine just Kenny Brown subframe connectors.

I would use new stainless steel fuel lines, regulator. You will make it easier on yourself if you had a 6a or better box with a distributor to go with it. Just plug in and go. I would also use a holley street avenger carb if it is going to be street driven alot. Mine I had to hold the gas down on cold mornings. I used a electric pump (holley blue pump) and a intank pickup tube.

It's alot easier to just get a new coil, and ignition box and a distributor that plugs right into the box. Don't forget that dual feed piece for the carb. You will also need a throttle cable, I bought a new one from a ford dealer (1984 I think)

Hope this helps you alot. Just ask if you need more.
