Heres my situation, my tires are shot, and they aren't getting any better with the new power. I was just going to pick up a set of Nitto 555R II's (I autocross a lot), but....my grandpa just died and my dad inherited some money, and he also runs the autocross in the stang and wants to get a set of street tires, and then buy a new set of autocross only rims and tires with his newfound money, which I have no objections to :D, so here are my questions:

What is a good street tire with decent tread life? I was thinking Nitto 555 out front, and 555R out back.

Now for the important stuff, I need a set of racing only wheels and slicks. I was thinking a set of Steeda ultralite I/II, but I have no clue on what kind of slicks to buy. Please help me out. The slicks would see maybe 250 miles a year.

Weld pro stars xp, or the drag light xp seem to be pretty popular at the tracks

I need road race rims, most of the welds are drag only from my understanding.

Paul - Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

However nobody has mentioned anything about a good set of slicks, which is what I am the most clueless on.

Swingline - Thanks, I appreciate the comment. He had parkinsons for 15 years so it wasn't sudden, but its still hard.

I am looking at the new summit mag and there is no disclamer on using the draglite xp, prostar xp, and the rodlite wheels only on the pro star, and the regular draglite the say are not for use in road, sport, solo, or autocross racing. just going on what I am reading  so the first three are o.k I think then again thinking has never been a strong point for me :D
