Ok guys, i seem to have a huge vacuum leak, that i can not find. It sounds like its coming from the back of the intake. i replaced the pcv valve thinking it may be the problem but its still sucking. how many vaccum lines are on the back of the intake? I also checked to see if the intake bolts where tight and they was. what could it be? ive got a few other problems but i think i can fix them with the surging idle check list. ill pull the codes in the morniing. thanks in advance for any and all info.

probably a vacuum line broke off or fell off the vacuum tree on the underside of the intake. just reach under there and see if you can feel where the leak is coming from

there are 4 lines total on backside of the intake the pcv, fuel press. reg., the EGR, and brake booster. the charcoal canister purge line is on the front.

Use a piece of 1/4" hose as a stethoscope. Stick one end in your ear and snoop around the suspect area with the other. It will isolate the sound so that you can find it easier.

thanks for the info. Somehow or another my pcv valve grommet was out in the road. put it back in along with the new pcv valve. I can still here it leaking. its louder than the car at idle. i checked the line to the fpr its fine. the hose to the pcv valve is new.Brake booster hose is fine, along with the egr hose.

I ran the codes today and im getting 51,22,53,64,35,71....i remember jrichker saying that some of these are related to pin 46 i think. so are any of these related to a vacuum leak? thanks in advance

If you're having issues with the PCV leaking vacuum past it (manifold vac is quite high at idle): Get a new grommet and a Ford PCV valve. They fit together quite nicely (I had to silicone lube the last pair I installed or else I couldnt get the valve installed).

Some guys (mostly mild forced induction) RTV the PCV valve in - that's not something I'd do.

Good luck.

EDIT: I forgot to say that the reason for desiring the Ford PCV valve and grommet is because they seem to fit together well. I tried an aftermarket PCV (as have others) and they dont necessarily fit tight.

Thanks for the tip HISSIN.......I guess ill go ahead and pick those parts up. Hopefully this is my problem beings i dont see where else it could come from. Also the fitting thaat the hose goes into on the back of the intake for the pcv valve was loose. i turned it till it was tight but it didnt help.
