Help Please!!!

I am trying to trouble shoot a problem with my car. I moved the silinoid and battery to the trunk and now when I get on it hard it stutters and almost dies. I am only getting 11 volts to my gauges and if the car is running and I disconnect the battery the car dies.

On my 66 I am getting only 9 volts on the terminal with the brown wire. It is the one closest to where the starter cable connects to the silinoid. I need someone to check their car’s silinoid and see how many volts they are getting and if mine is wrong. I am only getting 9 volts to the coil and under the dash; my pink wire (According to the shop manual it is going to my ignition) is warm.

HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I am thinking the same thing. I double checked everything and it seems fine. I am talking about the solenoid that mounts on the fender next tot he battery. The post next to the one where the power wire to the starter is conneceted. In my 66 it is brown. I think most fords used the same one but I don't think the wire colors are the same.

Put the starter relay back on the fender!!!!!

Run the + cable from the battery to the relay. Connect the - to the frame. Then check your ground cable from the back of the right head to the firewall. Replace if necessary. Also I would then add another ground cable from the original engine mounting location to the frame.

Distance means resistance!!!!

I agree, also what size wiring did you use when relocating the battery?

If the car dies when you disconnect the battery that is a serious problem from a charging standpoint, the car should run entirely off of the alternator once it gets going. My guess is that you are suffering high voltage drops as the alternator charge must travel ~12 ft. to the solenoid and then back again to get to the points and accessories.
