help me get around 300-350 hp

If you want that kinda power, get a ls1. Mustangs are for looks, GM is for going fast.

Oh gearbanger, compare the old chevy 283 with fords 281 4.6? Sorry but the old 283 is still the better of the two. (stock form that is)

Mustangs are for looks???? Ok go tell that to some of the 03 KB Cobras that they are only for looks and GM is for going fast. Amazing it takes chevy a 5.7L to beat a 4.6L mustang. Lets compare the Fords 5.4 to Chevy's 5.7

Fords 5.4 > Chevy's 5.7

GM is not anymore for going fast than Ford is, its as simple as sheer displacement and last time I checked Ford still has the fastest current production car between the two companies so you want to tell me how GM is for going fast and Ford is not?

How does chevy's old 283 compare to a 281 ci 4v cobra? Thats not even a competition.

i use to own a 93 z28 and yea stockfor stock a z28 is faster any day of the week. but the displacement is alot different, and i got outa my z b/c is use to freak me out the way the LT1 can run so hot, and i hated the way the gagues all fliped floped when u hit the brakes, and ****, maybe mine was just old but what ever, the mustang is a nice ride... not as beasty but nicer.... still miss that posi traction ;-(

ford 5.4 vs. chevy 5.7, yeah chevy is faster. Vortec 350 beats a 5.4 anyday, even a lightening cant beat a vortec 350 and its freaking supercharged.

Damn dude, your cranky.

Your trying to compare a 4500+ lbs truck against a 3200 lbs car. Lets compare the Cobra R vs an SS and see who wins? I bet the Cobra R wins. Not to mention the 5.4 and 4.6 are far superior for handling boost than the 350 is another reason why GM is not meant for going fast more than Ford is. I noticed you had no rebutle to two of the comments I made in my last post, how Ford has the fastest production car being built right now, and how the old 283 ci has nothing on a 281 ci 4v. Your statement was just ignortant and has no basis behind it. You just sound like one of those people who thinks oh well camaros are faster than mustang GT's therefore chevy is better than Ford :nonono: :notnice: . I would go and try to look for some dyno graphs and timeslips of 5.4's swapped into mustangs but I'm just to damn lazy. I can tell you this much, my buddy did an aviator swap which is a 4v 4.6 out of an aviator and put it in his 96 GT. Put down 300 rwhp just off the motor on a conservative tune. Dyno guy said with some better octane fuel he could get him up as high as 330 rwhp, and thats off a 4.6!! So you tell me how GM is meant for speed and for is not?

Please don't be a moron. That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. And with only 6-posts under your belt, discrediting your opinion this early in the game won't do much for your standing on this board.

If you really want to compare the 283 and 281, I'm all for it. 283 = 190 GROSS hp (which is about 145 at the wheels vs. even a bottom of the barrel 281 that makes 190 hp to the wheels, never mind a PI headed 4.6L that makes 220-230rwhp. So, other than it being inferior as far as power goes, what makes it any better? Reliability? Can't think of one 4.6 that hasn't clocked up over 200k+ on the odometer? Don't know of many 283's that have run that kind of mileage?

Are you high by any chance? A 350 Vortech (which is a truck engine BTW) in doesn't have a prayer against a 2nd Generation Lightning! Where are you getting this crap? :rlaugh:

Don't mistake my reasoning for me trying to be a dick. It's just not cost effective to build a N/A set up for your everyday enthusiast. Do the figures make sense to you now?

Well I think you are miss understanding me. I realize it is more money to go all out n/a. you don't need to convince me. it is just close enough in this instance I would consider it. Where as in my case with an 01 I have decided to go with boost eventually. $3700 gets me 350rwhp+.

IF you take out the fox lake intake to make it more comparable. I just added that in there because it is the best power producing street intake IMO. you take that out. drop the price down to $3700 or so as you don't need maf or injectors. So about the same as the supercharger kit. proably 310-315hp. the lack of a cheap intake really hurt the N/A route. This is why I will proably go with a KB kit on my car. replaces the intake.

if you keep adding mods though the boosted car will just make more power.

well I'll see what I get when the dyno #'s come in. I'm not going to be pissed off if I only get 300rwhp, that is still enough to take 99% of the cars on the road. I didnt want to supercharge my engine because is has high milage on it, and I didnt want to risk blowing something up. also there's a lot of ls1 guys out there that are convinced that no N/A gt can beat them. I'm just on a mission to prove them wrong. btw are you still running the 19lb injectors?

yep..still got the 19's in there...and the air/fuel is perfect...If I had about 20 more rwhp..I would have to go up to 24's...

well I was going to go with pi heads, vt cam, pi manifold & headers.
The work and cost were holding me back. I estimated 320hp with this route.
I went with PI manifold with my own intake plates, and a used vortech.
cost and labor were much better around $2200.
hopefully I can dyno next week to compare the results.
