Help me make my car doors out of fiberglass

I have been thinking about doing this for a very long time. My car is drag only and I am trying to get as much weight off the car as possible. I have been to many NMRA events where cars have fiberglass or carbon fiber doors. This is what I want to do also.

I need some help to figure out where to start. I am going to buy a door from a junkyard and use that as a mold.

You can use your current door as the mold.. Just tape it and use aluminum foil..

carbon fiber would be better but it would cost more.

For the amount of work you are getting into, you might as well spend a little bit more on the materials and go with carbon mat instead of the glass.

site has some nice prices but it doesn't have any doors. i don't know what all you have as far as weight reduction but i'd think that there are other places to start first than the doors. hood, fenders, trunk lid, etc.

They have the doors, there is no picture for them, but it is listed. $604/pair. I think I will start with the other things like decklid, fenders before I get to doors. I really would like to go with the removable front end!

Carbon fiber would be nice, but it is more costly.
