Hi guys, so my check engine light came on, and I pulled code p-1443 which is either a Idle Air Control Valve Speed Fault (IAC) or perhaps a Evaporative eissions charcoal canister purge sensor problem. The car runs and idles fine but the damn light is on and I need to smog the car and put on my o/r h-pipe. So what do you guys think is the problem???

I went to kragen and bought a new IAC valve for a 97 cobra but its different from the stock part. Here are some pictures.
As you can see the old IAC has a cover on the top, it also has two inlet holes on the bottom.

The new IAC has an open extension on top that sucks air and the car just dies when idling.

It also only has one inlet opening on the bottom.

Is there any way i can get this part to work? Or should I return it.
O btw i tried cleaning the stock IAC with carb cleaner and the light went off for about an hour then popped back on.
thanks for the help guys...Oh and where the hell is this purge canister located?

it looks like you can make it work if you get creative with some rubber hose. Just block off the old passage and route tubing to the top of the new IAC..

I would think they would make a different IAC for your application though.... Id check at the dealership or Randy @ MD
