Please read the entire thread. I have plenty of guns and I'm looking for a carry pistol in either .38 or 9MM. Right now I have a 1911 in .45, H&K USP Compact in .45, S&W Sigma in .40 and Ruger LCP 380.

Here is the deal, I carry my S&W Sigma .40 w/ laser because it's got a lifetime warranty, it cost me $250 new and I've had the trigger machined by S&W for free (lifetime warranty rules). The reason I carry it is because well it's $250, if I drop it who cares, it's $250. *NOTE-I DO NOT WANT A GLOCK!

I bought a Ruger LCP 380 as carry and I absolutely hate it. I'm 6'4" with huge hands and even with the pinky extender it's totally uncomfortable. I've put only about 30 rounds through since I've had it, I'm done.

The gun show is next week and I want to trade it in. Here the ones I like.

Let me start with the Sigma .40 w/ Laser, it's a full size. I carry it because like mentioned, it's cheap, holds 14 + 1 and if something happens to it, oh well.

Here is the Ruger LCP 380 I want to trade in at the gun show.

Here are my choices:

#1-Walther PPQ- Nice compact 9MM with adjustable single or double action trigger, retail $499 with laser.

#2-Walther PK380- Nice compact .38, same trigger, laser, around $399. I'm considering this .38 because the recoil will be less and the magazine obviously holds more. My wife would be more comfortable with the smaller ammo.

#3- Sig Sauer P290- Smaller compact then the Walther's, double or single action staging trigger, this is a 9MM. Retail is expensive at $799 but the Sig rep will be at the show I can get this for $499. Comes with (1) magazine with extender and (1) magazine that's compact. With my big hands the extended magazine should be fine.

Again, I'm not looking for the smallest, I have that and don't care for it. I'm looking for something a bit larger in either .38 or 9. I need comfort.

Post pics of your carry guns.

As big a fella as you are, I don't know why you don't carry your 1911. Of your choices, I'd take the Sig.

I'm 5'8" and 160lbs, my carry:

Ruger SR9c. My brother has one and loves it. Relatively cheap as well (<$450).

And, pics of the USPc. I turn 21 in a couple of weeks, and I'm torn between the USPc, Sig P229, or Ruger SR9c.

As you know the 1911 is one of the heaviest pistols to carry. I carried mine for a few weeks and decided since it was so heavy it may be more prone to hit the pavement or take my pants down. Just think if you dropped your Springfield and the driveway, not fun.

Although the 1911 is the best pistol ever made and I prefer shooting it over anything because it's the best balanced pistol in history. It's why the 1911 has been around for 100+ years.

I like that Ruger, I'm going to look at that one for sure.

Oh, and the USP Compact is incredible. H&K has a patent on some recoil system that turns shooting .45 ammo seem like your shooting a .38. I don't know how they do it but they are the only company to have it. I use to carry this gun daily but it's too expensive and way too nice. I'd be crushed if I dropped it.

Here is mine. Best pistol I ever bought.

Will I have a P229 in .40 and my roommate has one in 9. Get up with me and we'll get to PDHC and let you try both.

To the OP, I'd recommend the Sig over the others. That, or the smaller HK.

I'd hate that but I'm takin' my chances. Sure, it's heavy, but I got used to it.

Khar PM9.

Serously, it's thin for a 9mm, but actually has a decent grip, and a very well built gun. My next carry gun.

I just picked up an FN FNP 9mm. The gun hasn't showed up at the ffl yet but I'm expecting it by the end of the week. A buddy of mine has one and I love his. I got mine for a steal though. Won it in a gun auction and literally paid pennies for it. After all is said and done I'll only have spent around $150 on shipping and such on it and I believe it's a $600+ gun.

If it actually came in and is in "fair" condition it is a great deal, those guns are pretty exp.

With that OP, the next gun I'm purchasing is a Taurus PT145 millenium. Feel's great in the hand, I attached a link if you want to look at the info for the gun, and it does come in a 380 caliber also.

You talking about the FN 9MM High Power? Forgot to mention, I have a High Power too. My Dad carries this one.

KHAR PM9? Never even heard of this one. I'll have to check it out at the show. If it's a small as the one I'm trading in, I'll have to pass.

Actually I'm unsure. Here's a picture though. I'm not really a gun guy, found this site and had to try it out for the hell of it. Cost me only $6 for the bids I used. Auction closed at $1.08. Thinking I'm gonna do more penny auctions. I also won a masterlock trigger lock for $0.11 and a blackhawk belt holster for $0.03.

I have an older version of that FN, mine is all steel. The one you posted has a ploymer body and steel slide.

Lava, the guy sitting in the next office has the Taurus PT140 in his drawer, it's the .40 caliber version, the PT145 is .45 caliber. I really don't like that trigger. I'm pulling....waiting.....waiting....and the time it fires I'm not on track. That's a trigger you really have to get use too. You either love that trigger or hate it, no in between.

Yeah i heard about that, someone was telling me this gun operates as double/single. they said the first pull is drawn, and after that it's a decent pull. Don't know for sure I never shot it. If you have let me know, I'm getting ready to purchase it next week, I'm in no real hurry because I have my Bersa .380 right now. That one doesn't beel bad, and is fairly unexp. but yeah i was really in between that pt145 and a stoeger couger .40

Cbus, that revolver looks a bit small with a 2 finger grip. It's a good looking revolver though.

The KHAR CW9 looks identical to the PW9 posted above. I'll check these out at the show.
