Help me pick some rear leafs

Hello,
What are you using and are you happy with them? Is anyone running the 4 1/2" leafs? I've had one person tell me that they are too stiff. Does the extra 1/2" really help wheel hop or axle wind up?
Boyd from Pro Motorsports reccommended a standard 4 leaf mid eye set.
Also, Maier Racing places most of their leaf stack to the front to help with wind up.
Any pictures of cars with mid eyes and reverse eyes would be helpful also.

The best thing to do is to locate a spring shop in your city, the kind that works on the big rigs, and get them to commit to work with you on ride quality and ride height. Ordering from a catalog is a complete gamble. I had some Maier 4.5 leafs on my kids' '65 that lowered it about two inches. I sold them to a kid with a '66 coupe and they raised his car one inch. Same springs, both cars with 289's and 8"-ers.

If you insist on mail order, 4 leafs are just fine. In fact, if you're worried about ride quality, go with the equivalent of the factory "GT" spring. Then you can adjust ride height with the upside down leaf trick, as described in this thread: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=544275

Thanks 180. I'll consider your suggestion. It's hard to believe that the same spring lowered one car 2" and raised another, and similar cars.
Does anyone else have any good experiences with what you are running?

I have the 4 1/2 and like the ride but the shocks will be a player as well. Before I changed leafs I had the familar sag look with KYB's but it was a good ride. I changed to the 4 1/2 and went with the KYB GR2 and that worked well together as well good ride and no wheel hop.

I will say that with these in the back and about a 1/2 to 1 in. drop up front I have a slight rake effect and it looks great. If I wanted it to be the same height all the way around I would have used the mid-eye.

where to purchase 4 1/2 mid eyes?

i know that you can buy them at mustangsplus but shipping is kinda high from calif. to alabama. mustangs unlimited does not have them listed in their catalog.does anybody have a source in the southeast that may have them?

I went with the standard eye, 4.5 leafs from Mustangs + and are happy with them.
I did want things too stiff (5 leaf) for all around driving and for the comfort of my passengers as our roads in the northwest are terrible. I also wanted the added benifit of that half leaf for the extra weight like my son in the back or the twin 10's in the trunk and the minor traction or hop benefit.
I also did the shelby drop in the front to drop it a tad for that cool rake look. I'm a little old school with 16" wheels and 50 series tires but I also like the modern lowered look with 17's but more mods are usually necessary, especially on 65-66 depending on backspacing, ect..

I have a set of the Mustang Plus Magma 4 1/2 leaf mid eyes on my 1966 Mustang convertible.
They have been on the car since 1998 with about 12K miles on them.
My car sits funny now because I removed the 1 5/8" drop I used to be running up front due to my hooker long tubes and fender clearance issues. I am compensating the rake issue with air shocks and the ride is terrible (rough) with these shocks now.

I have been considering changing them out, so if someone is interested in buying them off of me, send me a PM.
I'm in Orlando, FL. Shipping costs might be an issue though.
