ok heres the problem. this is two weeks ago
my car was running perfectly except for a majore oil leake from the rear of the new intake i put on , so i parked it for the night and was gonna go get a new set of gaskets to redo the lower intake so the next day i start the car and take off and the car is running like ****.
it started to sputter like it was clogged inj, so i put some inj cleaner , didnt work.
so i checked the spark plug wires found my #1 cyl wire was bad so i replaced all wires, still didnt work
thought that maybe i had a crack in the cap so i replaced it, did nothing
took my distributor in and replaced the unit on it , nothing. still runs like **** ,i have power but i can tell im not at 100% it runs really chopy. i

im getting fuel presure , from what i can tell i dont have a vac leak but possible. the only things that i can think of that are left to change is plugs , wich i just change about a month ago , my computor or I DONT FU%$#@* KNOW. im so pised can anyone help. i live in kent if some is willing to come check it out. or what ever thanks garry

Well its kinda hard to help without a little more detailed info, but we'll give it a shot...

Be sure all intake leaks are taken care of, unmetered air can reak havok on the computer trying to run things...

Is it possible the distributor hold down was loose and the timing is now hosed?

Could someone have put something in the gas tank?

Are all the plugs tight?

Are the wires routed correctly? (plugs that is)

Is the oil level or coolant level changing?

Did you get gas somewhere other than normal?

Did you knock a wire loose on the maf or one of the injectors?

Start simple... it is probably something really easy.

ya i know tell me about it, i really wish i could spend the money and get it done by a shop but i dont and im not realy shure how far i can make it before she breaks down.

the dizzy? im assuming the distributor, and yes but my timming is good. i can drive the car but it runs like **** and once she gets warmer she begins to die every so often. it just dont make sense how i parked for the night and the very next day it runs like ****.

Garry, what year is your car and what intake did you put on? I might have some gaskets for you (I remember a '91 and TFS intake but I am not positive).

Check to see that your ground wires, the ones that
connect to the intake or the back of the heads, are still bolted down.

If you removed the intake, you disconnected the MAS and all the vacuum lines. Check to be certain that the really thick line to the PCV valve is tightly connected and properly in the lower intake.

If I were you, I'd remove the intake and reinstall the gaskets as you planned to do. Check every connection as you reassemble. Did you use the proper tightening sequence on the lower intake? Did you lose any nuts or bolts in the process of changing intakes?

Did you change the TB and EGR spacer too? If you did, or if you reset your idle, I would focus some attention on your TPS. Be certain it's not loose.

How close are you to the track? PM me your address. I will try to come-by today.

Sounds like the timing is off, did you pull the spout connector when setting the timing?

I just reviewed all the posts. I need a clarification: Did you reinstalled the lower intake to correct the leak you had in the back? -and you had the same problem you had before the reinstallation? Is that correct?

there wasnt any problems with the car besides an oil leak from the lower intake, and the car ran fine just had a big leak. so that night i parked it and the next morning i went to go the the store to pick up my gaskets, thats when it went to **** . there is no leak anymore and the problem started before i redid the lower.t5hats why it doesnt make sense because all it did was sit overnight and the next morning it ran like crap.

so the problem started before you did any work on it?

maybe one of the egr lines cracked when you were working on the car. It will cause power loss at wierd moments.
