My 93lx which began life has a 2.3, 4 cylinder. I still have the original rear springs and the back is low with such things as a cage, battery box., sump tank and larrg fuel pump. I want it up about 1 1/2" - 2 ". What springs can I get to give it some lift? There's penty of take off springs available on ebay from late model SN197's being lowered. Would these work?

Hi.

Unfortunately, you're not going to get that type of addition height with just springs. Putting poly isolators will add ~1/4" to 1/2". It all depends how worn your isolators are now. Rear springs from 00-02 GT DOHC will raise the rear of a Fox GT by roughly 1/4" to 1/2". Again, there are a number of factors.

So, you may be able to raise the rear up by 1/2" to ~3/4" with 00-02 DOHC springs and poly isolators.

After that, you're looking at a few different options to raise the rear. It all depends on how much higher. I think that ?MM? sells weld-in rear spring perches to raise the rear. IMHO, you want the weld-in version (who ever makes them).

I know that MM sells a rear control arm with an adjustable perch. IMHO, get MM only!

IMHO, do NOT even push your car 1/2" if you put on the pure cr*p rear control arms that other companies sell. With the cr*p that other companies sell, you'll be lucky if the car can go 1" and not kill many innocent people, have your *ss sued to all hell, and so on.

The MM adj rear control arm isn't cheap (~ $450). But, along with the ploy isolators and 00-02 DOHC rear springs, you can get the rear of the car to the correct height.
XD Adj. Rear Lower Control Arms, 1979-98, with swaybar mount [MMRLCA-32] : Maximum Motorsports, the Latemodel Mustang Performance Suspension Leader!

BTW: IMHO, you're better off going with poly isolators and the DOHC 00-02 rear springs and the adj rear control arm instead of just the adjustable rear control arm, stock GT rear springs, and stock rubber isolators.

Raising the mounting point of the rear spring does raise the rear of the car. However, the more you raise the spring mounting point from the rear spring, the more you effect the geometry of the rear suspension.

Good Luck!

lift rear springs

This past weekend I installed rear springs from a 2003 gt with some new isolators which gave about a 2" lift to rear of my 93 lx. The 99 - 04 gt rear springs are rated 210 lbs / in.
