Just like the title says...got a gift certificate for Christmas and need some ideas on how to spend it - and I don't want to go over $100 by that much. I'm on a tight budget at the moment.

Give me some ideas! I'm thinking about getting motor/trans mounts...

If you have aftermarket control arms, how are you bushings? What about some billet interior goodies or something? Kinda sucks that there isnt much to get for $100 or less... Modding is an expensive disease.

I thought about buying tools - but the more I looked through the Jeg's catalog I got discouraged. A lot of the tools listed in there seem to be of suspect quality. Lots of Chinese imports and the like, which I'm not interested in. I like the idea of a bushing kit, however.

I have a Transgo kit; It's sitting in my closet though...planning to install it when I buy a new TC this summer.

Yeah at the moment the AODE is 100% stock. the tranny gets a bit unhappy after some spirited driving (when it gets hot - after multiple WOT blasts and no cool down). holding up okay at the moment, but i can't imagine it lasting much longer. the car only has 58,xxx miles on it. I did have one incident in which I was at about a 15mph roll, floored it, and the engine revved up towards redline and the trans didn't shift - and then shifted violently and barked the tires at 40mph or so. this made me a bit nervous since it was right after i put the combo together and my tuner removed the stock rev limiter - but it ended up being alright. we'll have to see what happens next summer when i can really start getting it sorted out. I may go ahead and put in a Lentech or Performance Automatic AODE just to be safe. Regardless, the car needs a torque converter badly. I was pretty happy with the numbers the car laid down with the stock trans/rearend...will be interesting to see how it feels once I get all those parts updated.

the car is a weekend toy and doesn't see a ton of use (especially now since it's winter), so I can't really speak to how this combo would do in a daily driver situation. I'm guessing it would trash the transmission pretty quick with daily abuse. it seems like locking out O/D keeps the car fairly responsive and quite a bit more fun to drive, but it also seems to build up the heat. I have a B&M cooler/Transgo kit and a new tranny filter that I really should install but just haven't gotten around to it. Keep me updated on how yours works out! I'm learning as I go...
