Help me w/ my horn

the horn worked and I screwed it up.

1. I took off the wheel for other non-horn related reasons
2. there were 2 wires coming out of the wheel and 2 prongs on the horn
3. I attached the wires
4. when putting the wheel back on, I get a great spark when the metal on the wheel touches the steering column. I know I should dissconnect the battery cable, but I didn't.

Anyway when I finally got everything back together, the car lights would flicker intermittentally and the horn would not honk. It would only honk when wired up but not with the wheel bolted to the steering column.

Any ideas?

The horn relay is in the headlight switch, hence the seemingly unrelated problems. Better get a new one and find any short you've developed.

yep, you best find anything else that might be acting up right now before your "screw up" causes any more problems that you really dont want to be dealing with in the future......

Good thread. Had the sample problem. Horn blew once but as soon as it was bolted down it stopped working. I sometimes push the button while leaning my head outside the window making horn sounds.
